WORCESTER - An arrest warrant has been issued for a 43-year-old who allegedly entered the country illegally and was involved in a crash that injured two people in June.

Jose Acevedo of 188 Chandler St., Worcester, was allegedly driving drunk when his Chevrolet struck a Subaru Outback on Mill Street in Auburn June 8.

Mr. Acevedo was scheduled to appear in Central District Court in Worcester on Friday but failed to show up and a warrant was issued for his arrest, a spokesman for Worcester District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr. said.

After the crash, Mr. Acevedo allegedly registered a blood-alcohol level of 0.26 when he was given a Breathalyzer test at the Auburn police station.

Police said Mr. Acevedo admitted that he had entered the United States illegally from El Salvador and said police were investigating his citizenship status.

At the time of the crash, Auburn police said there were two adults and two children in the Subaru and two of the occupants were injured, including a woman who may have had a broken neck.
