DUDLEY - In an alleged disturbance that was witnessed by a court officer, a 71-year-old North Brookfield man was accused of hurling racial epithets at a black man, according to a police report.

Wayne Fuller, of 34 Brooks Pond Road, North Brookfield pleaded not guilty Tuesday in Dudley District Court to a charge of a civil rights violation. He was ordered to return to court for a pretrial hearing July 30.

According to the police report, a man and a woman went to the Dudley Police Department on May 25 to report that Mr. Fuller, who was involved in their case in Dudley District Court, had directed racial slurs at them.

As Mr. Fuller left court, he allegedly called the man the n-word and a “piece of (expletive) scumbag.” He allegedly called the woman a whore, and told the man he had better get an AIDS test and again used a racial slur.

The court officer confronted Mr. Fuller and told him he couldn’t talk to people that way.

The court officer told police Mr. Fuller continued to use racial slurs in the parking lot after he was in his vehicle.
